VIDEO: Wichita (KS) Fire Department Responds to Two-Alarm Apartment Fire

The estimated loss is $200,000 to the structure and $50,000 to the contents, but no lives were lost.

Around 8 a.m. last Monday, Wichita (KS) Fire Department firefighters responded to an apartment fire on the 2800 block of S. Emporia.

Upon arrival, crews from Station 22 saw heavy smoke showing from both the second and third floors—at the front and rear of the building—of a three-story building. Multiple people were reported trapped inside, while heavy fire was extending to the attic and roof; second-alarm responses were requested.

Four people and two firefighters were treated for injuries on scene. Six apartments were heavily damaged by fire and water, an additional 10 were left uninhabitable, and the services of Red Cross were requested for those displaced.

The estimated loss is $200,000 to the structure and $50,000 to the contents, but no lives were lost. Fire officials are investigating, and the cause of the fire is still not known.
