Water shuttle at a large fire in Dresden
Just after 17:30 hours on April 27, 2021, Chatham-Kent Fire & Emergency Services, received reports of a combine on fire. Dispatch toned out station 6 in Dresden to respond.
Unit 6-11 arrived to a fire that had extended into a barn and other pieces of farm equipment on the property, and command called for a 2nd alarm bringing station 5 from Tupperville. Firefighters pulled multiple lines and took up a defensive posture and water being supplied by tankers. Unit 7-12 was dispatched to assist with water shuttle operations.
Crews fought a hot fire in hot weather and a few firefighters had to be assessed by C-K EMS. At this point; the remainder of station 7 was tapped out for the balance of the 3rd alarm.
The fire was brought under control within a few hours. Two rekindles sent station 6 back the following day.
