June 7th, 2021 Los Angeles Firefighters, Task Force 10, first on scene at 1848 South Main Street downtown had heavy smoke and fire showing from the roof of a 200 ft. by 200 ft. “one and two story” vacant medical building.

LAFD firefighters quickly stretched lines to attack the “L shaped” one story section hugging to the two story portion of the building.

Due to the building being vacant and possibly unstable, with history of previous fires now well involved, firefighters were ordered out of the building and went defensive.

Approximately 100 Firefighters had the main bulk of fire knocked down in an hours time with a “wagon battery,” several ladder pipes and several 2 1/2 inch handlines.

There were no reported injuries.

Metro Rail was shut down in both directions on Washington Boulevard.

The cause of the intense and suspicious late night blaze is under investigation. – MNR –
