Overcoming Common Engine Company Mistakes and Fireground Problems

A look at the most common mistakes and problems the instructor has experienced and seen on the fireground in his 24 years in the fire service. A distinction is made between a mistake and a problem. A mistake is a human error typically caused by a lack of experience or training, lack of familiarity, or by rushing in the heat of the moment. A problem is an unforeseen issue that must be overcome on the fireground. A good firefighter or fire officer always has a plan B in mind. Discussion includes the most common mistakes firefighters make on the fireground, the most common problems encountered, and ways to overcome them. The presentation, sponsored by Waterous Company, wraps up with a question-and-answer session.
