Lebanon Junction (KY) Firefighters Walk Out as City Tries to Cut Training Requirements

How much training is too much for a volunteer fire department? City councilors and the mayor in Lebanon Junction feel that the fire department’s policy requiring three days of training per quarter is excessive.

The issue came to a head when the former chief placed several members – one of them the city’s police chief – on limited duty for failing to attend training. In one case, attending no training since as far back as 2020.

Mayor Larry Dangerfield says the requirement takes the volunteer out of volunteer firefighting.
