Humpday Hangout: Attic and Cockloft Fires

Is there a better way to fight attic fires?

Fire Engineering – In this week’s Humpday Hangout, join Mike Dugan, Bill Gustin, and the group. As with previous topics they will begin by relating their most memorable attic/cockloft fire.

They know you have all experienced it: How much fire you can have burning overhead in an attic and not know it. We have to wonder if there has to be a better way to fight attic fires?

Special guest: Dave Walsh, FDIC AV Squad. He and his students at Dutchess Community College have performed tests on legacy/stick-built roof assemblies constructed with rafters of dimensional lumber vs. modern, lightweight trusses. His tests on insulation will alos be reviewed.
