FDIC 2024 Preview: Top Tips to Ace Your Next Promotional Exam

Instructor: Steve Prziborowski, Deputy Chief (Ret.), Santa Clara County (CA) Fire Department

This session will assist attendees to prepare for their next promotional exam and, most importantly, the position they aspire to. This is not a class to learn how to pass the test. Instead, attendees will be exposed to numerous tips and key points on preparing for the position as well as the promotional exam itself. The focus of this session is on the most commonly found promotional process events (oral interview, role play scenario and the emergency scene simulation). A promotional exam is a stressful process that virtually everyone dreads. Thus, it’s critical to learn how to best focus your efforts on the position you aspire to, as well as the actual process, to ensure you score as high as you can during the process. One (1) point may make the difference between getting promoted or having to take the next test. After leaving class, attendees will be able to create their own game plan for success as they prepare for their next promotional exam. Attendees are expected to come prepared with questions to help provide a healthy discussion & learning environment that all can have an opportunity to benefit from!
