Students get hands-on experience at the following stations. Station 1.1: Residential Victim Removal. Learning Objectives: Enhance victim survivability with rapid patient packaging and strategic removal from the structure. Use hand tools, webbing, and body leverage to develop methods that ensure the quickest way to remove victims. Station 2.1: Progressive Forcible Entry. Perform a rapid door size-up and distinguish components, determine structural integrity, and identify the best method to gain access. Use conventional tools to efficiently force entry while maximizing technique over strength. Station 3.1 and 3.2: Ladder Carries and Deployment/Hoseline Positioning Techniques. Learn the different practices for removing ladders from apparatus, carrying the ladders, and placing them using body mechanics for quick and efficient deployment. Students will remove ladders from apparatus with adaptive techniques, using carries to assist diverse crew structure and maximize body kinesiology for efficient deployment. In addition, there will be a review of basic techniques for deploying and advancing attack hoselines and of proper body mechanic techniques that involve common equipment and methods to “maximize distance covered vs. minimal energy output.”
