MID-MISSOURI – KRCG reports that firefighters had to enter a frozen pond to rescue a horse that had fallen through the ice in mid-Missouri.

Firefighters were dispatched at 11:00 a.m. for a horse that had fallen through the ice.

Firefighters entered the water in ice suits and wrapped the horse, named Molly, with a large strap and used a winch to pull her from the icy water, according to a Facebook post by the Tri-County Fire Protection District.

Molly was slid onto a Sked and then moved into a horse trailer for transport.

Prior to clearing the scene Molly was standing on her own and is expected to make a full recovery.
