A training exercise turned into an actual rescue Sunday when the Susquehanna Hose Company was called to rescue a man from a submerged car.
The house did not have working smoke alarms.
The victims were treated at the scene but did not go to the hospital, nor did anyone else from the fire.
“Better to call than not!” a Santa Barbara County Fire Department official said on Twitter.
A total of two adults and four children were displaced from the fire, and the Red Cross was called for assistance.
