Oakland firefighters, IAFF Local 55 is a charter member of the International Association of Firefighters, the international labor union for the more than 300,000 firefighters across the US and Canada. Local 55 was amongst the first 100 firefighter’s unions that founded the IAFF on February 28, 1918, and Local 55 is the only charter member in the IAFF’s 10th district.
