BALTIMORE, Maryland – The Baltimore Sun reports that a pedestrian was hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by a fire department battalion chief responding to an alarm Sunday evening.

The pedestrian was struck in the 1700 block of East North Avenue at approximately 8:30 p.m. according to a police department spokesman.

The battalion chief, who was driving with his vehicle’s lights and sirens on, was taken to a hospital for an evaluation and later released.
