Firefighter Taken to Hospital After Fire Damages Home in Staten Island (NY)

Oct. 10—STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A member of the FDNY was taken to a local hospital after a fire broke out at a home in Clifton Thursday afternoon, according to FDNY.

The department first received the report of a fire at 3 Bowen St. around 12:30 p.m. A 12-unit emergency response took to the scene consisting of 60 fire and EMS personnel.

At the site, FDNY members could be seen using a bucket ladder to access the upper floor of the home. Numerous firefighters could be seen emptying the property of charred items through broken windows and a blackened doorframe.

A department spokesperson said that one firefighter was taken in unknown condition to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze.

The fire was eventually brought under control at 1:44 p.m. and has since been traced to the basement of the residence., the FDNY spokesperson added.

Fire marshals are investigating the cause of the blaze, the FDNY said.
