Charleston, WV Firefighter Accidentally Shoots Himself While On-Duty

CHARLESTON, West Virginia – WCHS reported that a Charleston firefighter accidentally shot himself in the leg while on-duty.

The shooting occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. Tuesday evening outside of Charleston Fire Department Station No.7 on Cora Street, according a statement from the fire department.

The fire department said Firefighter Isaac Brunetti was on-duty and was struck by accidental gunfire when he tried to secure his personal firearm in his locker.

Firefighter Brunetti was treated for a gunshot wound to the lower left leg, transported to a local hospital, and later discharged.

No one else was injured.

The fire department and the Charleston Police Department are investigating the incident.
