Boston Firefighters Hurt in Four-Alarm Fire

BOSTON — Boston firefighters responded to what would eventually become a four-alarm fire that injured two firefighters on Wednesday evening.

CBS Boston reported that two firefighters were hurt and seven occupants displaced by the fire in a duplex at 409 East Seventh Street in South Boston.

Operations and Support Services Chief John Dempsey said that the fire began in the basement on the left side of the duplex which was under construction.

Six adults and child were able to safely escape from the other side of the duplex.

Of the two firefighters injured, one suffered from heat exhaustion and the other a cut.

Both were taken to a hospital for treatment.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
