SWAT Called to Fatal Wisconsin House Fire

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (AP) – Authorities in a Milwaukee suburb are investigating the death of a person who was found after a house fire that drew SWAT team officers to the scene.

Firefighters were called to the burning home in Wauwatosa (wah-wah-TOH’-sah) Thursday and as they began fighting the fire they heard what sounded like a gunshot.

Wauwatosa police Lt. Gerald Witkowski says firefighters, officers and witnesses were “pretty confident” that someone on the second floor of the house was shooting out of a window.

WISN-TV (http://bit.ly/qnNPSP ) says a tactical squad was then called to the scene. Neighbors were told to go to their basements. A witness says the woman who lived in the home walked out safely. Her son also lived in the house.

The Milwaukee County medical examiner has not identified the body found in the burned house.
