Washington County (PA) Volunteer Firefighter and Fire Police Captain Dies After Call

Washington County (PA) Volunteer Firefighter and Fire Police Captain Laron Holcomb died Saturday evening after responding to a vehicle crash, reports wpxi.com.

Holcomb, 73, responded with the Ellsworth Fire Department to a vehicle crash on Route 136 around 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

According to officials, after Holcomb left the accident scene he returned home where he experienced shortness of breath. He was taken to Washington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:21 p.m., the report says.

Preliminary reports say Holcomb died of a heart attack.

Governor Tom Wolf ordered all flags at half-staff until sunset on Friday, September 10.
