Florida Firefighters Rescue Four after Car Crash Sparks Fire

A car headed east on 45th street with two adults and a baby inside crashed into a parked pickup truck early Tuesday morning, sparking a fire at a home serving as an assisted living facility in West Palm Beach.

Firefighters rescued four people – all of them in wheelchairs – from the home in the 1500 block of 45th Street. No one in the car was injured.

When the car hit the pickup, it apparently ruptured the gas tank and sent flames 30 feet in the air. The flames reached the home’s eaves and caused some fire and smoke damage within, he said.

Firefighters promptly extinguished the fire.
