Firefighters Rescue Man from Third Floor Window as Zanesville (OH) Masonic Temple Burns

The Masonic Temple building in downtown Zanesville caught fire around 11:00 pm Thursday evening. When firefighters arrived at the scene they found a man hanging out of a third floor window, trapped by the fire inside, and rescued him.

The fire started on the third floor of the 120-year-old historic building and spread to the roof as firefighters had to mount a defensive attack.

The adjacent Muskingum County Jail and Courthouse building had to be evacuated and businesses throughout the area lost power as firefighters worked for more than six hours to extinguish the fire.
