Retired Indianapolis Fire Captain, Indiana Task Force One Member, Passed Away

Retired Indianapolis Fire Dept. Captain Mark Rapp died Friday of cancer complications from his response to 9/11 with Indiana Task Force 1.

Mark Rapp was remembered by colleagues for his passion for the fire service. He was a founding member of Indiana Task Force 1 in 1995 and was active in it until 2017, the fire department said in a statement.

As part of the task force, Rapp deployed to New York City during the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center.

He retired in 2017 as the battalion chief of training.
