HEADLAND, Alabama — The pilot of a medical helicopter has died in a crash on Christmas Day.

WTVY reports that a Survival Flight helicopter crashed while landing at the Headland Airport.

Douglas Davis, 61, was the pilot of the helicopter.

The helicopter and crew of three were returning to the airport after responding to a call in the Florida panhandle.

The helicopter landed upside down a short distance away from its designated landing area.

Henry County Coroner Derek Wright told WTVY an autopsy will be performed but he believes Davis suffered a heart attack.

There was no report on the condition of the other crewmembers.
