“Captain Kuspa’s unwavering commitment to serving our community, his leadership, and his camaraderie will forever leave a lasting impact on all of us,” said Rodney Dale, Elkhart Fire Department fire chief. “Throughout his career, Captain Kuspa embodied the values of courage, professionalism and selflessness. He was not only a respected officer but also a trusted mentor and friend to so many within our department.”
Kuspa was a 19-year veteran in the Elkhart fire department. He served the department in various ways, including on the Tactical Rescue team, Water Rescue team and Honor Guard.
He also was a well-known instructor to many young firefighter rookies in the Michiana area. Dale said Kuspa was a mentor and friend to many within the fire department. He had been promoted to captain just weeks ago.
