DUXBURY, Massachusetts — CBS Boston reports that the Duxbury Fire Department is the first in the country to have firefighters wearing biometric rings.
The rings can monitor vital signs and sleep cycles and are also able to withstand the rigors of the job.
The department bought 38 of them and offered them to firefighters who volunteered to wear them.
“About 90% of the members took advantage of it,” Duxbury Fire Chief Kevin Nord told CBS Boston.
Each firefighter can monitor his or her information through a smartphone app.
