Rhode Island Firefighter Falls Through Floor at Abandoned Structure Fire

East Providence firefighter unhurt in fall through floor

EAST PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island – An East Providence firefighter was uninjured after falling through the floor during an abandoned commercial structure fire on Monday.

WPRI reports that firefighters responded to the alarm on Valley Street at approximately 10:00 a.m. and found a “well-advanced” fire.

During firefighting operations a firefighter fell through a hole in the second floor.

Fire Chief Glenn Quick said the firefighter was not hurt and returned to work after being evaluated by EMS on the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
