Battalion Karriem was found unresponsive in his vehicle

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas – A Little Rock battalion chief died after being found unresponsive in his vehicle while at the scene of a fire on Saturday.

In a Facebook post the fire department stated that Battalion Chief Edward Karriem had responded with firefighters to a house fire at 9925 Stardust Trail at 10:52 a.m.

Battalion Chief Karriem, 41, was the incident commander.

During overhaul Battalion Chief Karriem was found unresponsive in his vehicle.

Firefighters performed CPR and Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services transported him in critical condition to Baptist Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
