Officials in Warrenton, Oregon shared the concern of other municipal officials that mandating COVID-19 vaccines would drive away firefighters. Instead, the opposite happened.
As news of a possible shortage of firefighters made its way around town, concerned citizens actually stepped up and joined the department in unexpected numbers. The department is now enrolling five new recruits – the most it’s had in years.
“We actually ended up having people step forward, hearing about the crisis looming,” Mayor Henry Balensifer told TV station KGW-8. For more on the story, visit KGW-8.
