West Virginia Paramedic, Firefighter Dies Due to COVID-19

KANAHWA COUNTY, West Virginia — WCHS reports that a Putnam County paramedic and volunteer firefighter has died while in the hospital battling COVID-19.

Jason Wurster, a paramedic for Putnam County EMS and a firefighter for the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department, died, according to a Facebook post from Hurricane Fire and Rescue.

Wurster had received much support as he fought for his life at Charleston Area Medical Center Memorial Hospital. A prayer vigil was held to show support.
