Firefighter killed while responding to fire

ROANE COUNTY, West Virginia — The Roane County Sheriff’s office reports that a firefighter was killed while responding to a fire, according to WCHS.

Officials said the firefighter was driving a fire truck that crashed on Big Sandy Road in the Newton area Saturday.

The firefighter was responding to a structure fire according to officials.

The name of the firefighter has not been released.

The Roane County Sheriff’s Office, along with the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the scene.
