Snohomish firefighters and medics rescue girl in closed toy chest

MONROE, Washington – Firefighters rescued a girl that was found hiding inside a closed toy chest during a house fire in Snohomish County on Sunday, according to KOMO.
Firefighters from Snohomish County Fire District 7 were dispatched to a house fire in Monroe at 11:10 a.m. after a neighbor had called 911 reporting smoke coming from the home.
Monroe police officers arrived on scene first and were told that there was a child still inside the house.
The officers quickly entered the home and closed the door to the fire room then exited when they could not find the child.
Firefighters arrived and entered the home to extinguish the fire and conduct a search, with the help of medics.
One medic searched an adjacent bedroom and found the little girl in a closed toy trunk.
Paramedics evaluated the girl and found she did not need to be transported to a hospital.
Firefighters say the quick action by the police officers to close the bedroom door helped contain the fire to the room of origin.
