Assistant chief was burned in September wildfire

SEATTLE — A Washington firefighter seriously burned in a wildfire in September has passed away.
KXLY reports that Okanogan Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Christian Johnson died at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Wednesday.
Assistant Chief Johnson’s doctors had said that not only was he battling burn injuries but respiratory issues as well.
Johnson suffered second- and third-degree burns over a majority of his body.
Johnson was surrounded by his wife, family, and friends, according to Okanogan County Emergency Management officials.
Assistant Chief Johnson served with the Okanogan Fire Department for 20 years. Before that he was a sergeant in the U.S. Army and was deployed to Iraq in 2003 with the Washington State National Guard.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Washington State Council of Fire Fighters Burn Foundation, the Washington Wildland Fire Foundation, or the Red Cross.
