Video: $1 Million Aerial Burned in Fire at Vacant Townhouse Complex

A Vaughan Fire Department aerial valued at $1 million was destroyed Sunday morning at a townhouse development in Vaughan in Ontario, Canada.

The fire broke out about 4 a.m. in the area of Rutherford Road and Highway 27, CTV reports. Gusty winds made the fire difficult to fight and it eventually spread to 35 units in the complex, all under construction.

Deputy chief Grant Moffatt, of Vaughan Fire, told CTV crews had set up the aerial and had it flowing water when winds pushed the fire toward the apparatus. Firefighters were unable to move it fast enough to avoid the flames and it was overrun by the fire and totaled.

No one was injured in the fire.
