Victims Trapped in Sacramento (CA) Water Tower Turn Out to be Owls

Sacramento Fire Department crews ascended a water tower in the city’s Railyards district Thursday evening after reports of people trapped in a water tower 72-feet off the ground.

Upon investigation, firefighters discovered that the only “victims” in the tower were a pair of owls, KCRA reports. The fire department used the opportunity, however, to hold an impromptu training session.

They game-planned what rescuing an actual person from the tower would involve, should that call ever come in.

The 100,000-gallon tower dates to the 1930s and is a historic landmark.
