

One firefighter injured in Harrison County house fire

HARRISON COUNTY, Mississippi – WXXV reported that despite a dramatic rescue, a fully involved house in Harrison County claimed the life of one person.
Firefighters from the Diamondhead Fire Department, Harrison County Fire Services, and Pass Christian Fire Department responded to the blaze on Vidalia Road in Pass Christian at approximately 6:00 p.m.
Harrison County Fire Chief Pat Sullivan told WXXV that firefighters entered a bedroom window in an attempt to locate and rescue an occupant.

“We were having difficulty getting through the things that were in the room. There were things that had fallen over. Fire was actually coming through the walls and over their head at this point,” Sullivan told WXXV.
“They risked their lives on this fire trying to save this gentleman. This was one of the most extreme rescue attempts we’ve been involved in. There was heavy fire in the room. The firefighters were doing everything they could to keep the fire off of themselves and the victim. It was a heroic effort.”
