USFA: Wisconsin On-Duty Death

The U.S. Fire Administration has announced the official on-duty death of Firefighter Brian Serdynski of the Union Grove-Yorkville (WI) Fire Department.

On October 19, 2019, Firefighter Brian Serdynski suffered a heart attack while at the scene of a motor vehicle accident. He was transported to a hospital where he was treated and then released on October 21. In the very early morning hours on November 2, Serdynski was having difficulty breathing. First responders from Union Grove-Yorkville and Kansasville fire departments responded to Serdynski’s home and immediately administered medical care. Despite their efforts, Serdynski was pronounced deceased at his home.

Fatality status is provisional and may change as USFA contacts State Fire Marshals to verify fatality incident information.
