Lexington County engineer struck while at an accident

The U.S. Fire Administration has announced the official on-duty death of Fire Engineer Paul Edwin Quattlebaum, 46, of the Lexington County Fire Service on October 4, 2019.

Fire Engineer Paul Quattlebaum was dispatched to a medical call. While headed to the call, he and his partner saw a vehicle accident in the 5200 block of Fairview Road and stopped to help. While checking on those involved, Quattlebaum was struck by a semi-truck. EMS treated Quattlebaum at the scene and then transported him to a nearby hospital where he passed away.
