USFA: North Carolina On-Duty Death

The U.S. Fire Administration has announced the official on-duty death of Captain Claud G. Messer, 74, of Jonathan Creek Fire and Rescue on September 20, 2019.

While operating a fire department vehicle, Captain Claud Messer was involved in a vehicle accident on Jonathan Creek Road (Highway 276 North) as he responded to another emergency traffic accident call. Messer passed away as a result of the injuries sustained in the accident.
