USFA: New York On-Duty Death

Acting as a spotter for the Barker Fire Department rescue truck; was hit when the apparatus was backing up

The U.S. Fire Administration has announced the official on-duty death of Firefighter Judy Spencer, 65, of the Hartland (NY) Volunteer Fire Company on August 24, 2021.

On Tuesday, August 24, 2021, while at the scene of a field fire, Firefighter Judy Spencer, who was acting as a spotter for the Barker Fire Department rescue truck, was hit when the truck was backing up. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
