USFA: New Mexico On-Duty Death

The U.S. Fire Administration has announced the official on-duty death of Driver/Operator Jeff Stroble, 46, of the City of Roswell Fire Department on July 21, 2019.

On June 5, 2019, the City of Roswell Fire Department was preparing for the community July 4th fireworks show.  Driver/Operator Stroble was assisting with this preparation when an explosion occurred, injuring him.  Stroble was immediately taken to the hospital but passed away on July 21, 2019, from the injuries he sustained in the explosion.

To date, 28 firefighter fatalities have been reported to USFA in 2019.  Year-to-date and annual USFA firefighter fatality reports are posted online at https://www.usfa.fema.gov/data/statistics/ff_fatality_reports.html

Fatality status is provisional and may change as USFA contacts State Fire Marshals to verify fatality incident information.
