USFA: Mississippi Firefighters Struck, Killed

The U.S. Fire Administration has announced the official on-duty deaths of Deputy Chief Clinton Alvin Beasley, 80, and Firefighter Loretta Ann Sykes, 53, of the Sumrall Volunteer Fire Department on March 15, 2017

Deputy Chief Clinton Alvin Beasley and Firefighter Loretta Ann Sykes were directing traffic at the scene where a dump truck got tangled in power lines at Mississippi 589 and Oloh Road (Lamar County, MS) when they were struck by a hit-and-run driver. Both Beasley and Sykes passed away at the scene from injuries sustained when hit. The driver of the vehicle was later apprehended by Lamar County law enforcement.
