USFA: Illinois On-Duty Death

The U.S. Fire Administration has announced the official on-duty death of Firefighter/paramedic Scott Williams, 49, of Argonne National Laboratory Fire Department on November 21, 2021.

On Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021, Firefighter/Paramedic Scott Williams responded to a smoke investigation in one of the facility’s laboratories.  He returned to the station and during shift change on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021, was found unresponsive in his bunk.  He was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Investigation into the cause of his death is ongoing.

Fatality status is provisional and may change as USFA contacts State Fire Marshals to verify fatality incident information.
