The U.S. Fire Administration has announced the official on-duty death of Captain Leo W. Werner, 67, of the Scales Mound Fire Protection District on December 10, 2020.

On Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at approximately 2200hrs, Captain Leo W. Werner responded to a medical call at a residence. After returning home, he suffered an apparent heart attack and passed away shortly after midnight on Thursday, December 10, 2020.
