The U.S. Fire Administration has announced the official on-duty death of Firefighter Efren Medina, 20, of the St. Marys Fire Department, on April 17, 2021.

On Saturday morning, April 17, 2021, Firefighter Efren Medina, while working his first 24-hour shift as a firefighter, passed away in his sleep at the firehouse. Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
