A firefighter with Ulster Hose Company Number 5 suffered injuries to his face and broken bones Friday when he was dragged by a car during a rescue.
Firefighters were called to a vehicle on Ulster Avenue containing a person overdosing at about 7:50 a.m. The arriving units had to force their way into the vehicle to assist an unconscious male inside.
After gaining access, members administered Narcan and began to remove the patient, the fire department reports via Facebook.
At the same time, the vehicle went into reverse and began to roll backwards, dragging a member before he freed himself.
The member sustained numerous facial injuries and broken bones.
The department asks that you keep the member in your thoughts as he begins his recovery process.
