Two Children Dead, Three Adults Hurt, in Philadelphia Fire

PHILADELPHIA (FOX29) – Two children have died following a two-story house fire in Strawberry Mansion, according to authorities.

The flames broke out just before 5 a.m. Monday on the 2300 block of North Myrtlewood Street. Approximately 60 firefighters, medics, chiefs and support personnel responded to the scene.

“Despite aggressive firefighting and rescue efforts, two children did not survive,” said Philadelphia Fire Department spokesperson Kathy Matheson.

Three adults were also injured in the fire and transported to local hospitals.

Further information on the victims, including their ages and conditions, was not immediately made available. Authorities have yet to identify the deceased.

The fire was placed under control around 5:15 a.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
