Tiller Tuesday: Honolulu

(TGG - Global Emergency Responses)

Honolulu Ladder 2 responding

TGG – Global Emergency Responses – Captured here is tiller Ladder 2 of the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) responding to two separate emergencies, likely medical calls, and later returning.

Ladder 2, based at the ‘Pawaa’ fire station, is considered one of the busiest ladder companies in the city, as HFD has a policy to send aerial trucks first for medical calls instead of sending an engine. This is done in order to always keep an engine company ready in case a fire call comes in, as fires can move and spread very quickly in Honolulu due to high winds from the ocean and predominantly wooden buildings.
