Three firefighters suffered minor injuries battling a fire at the Wayfinder Hotel in Newport Monday night into Tuesday morning.
Firefighters from six communities battled the fire, which started on the third floor in a guest area.
A firefighter fell through the floor and needed assistance from other firefighters in escaping. That triggered the decision to move to a defensive posture in fighting the fire.
The firefighters were not seriously injured.
