The Chronicles of the FDNY

In July, the FDNY released “FDNY 2001—2011: A Decade of Remembrance and Resilience,” which chronicles September 11, 2001, and the FDNY’s efforts to rebuild in the months and years that followed.

Featuring an introduction by former President George W. Bush, the 112-page, large-format book is packed with intimate photos and interviews with FDNY members that illustrate the strength and sacrifice made by the department on 9/11 and during the aftermath. Attention is also given to the department’s response to other major events, such as Hurricane Katrina, the earthquake in Haiti, the “Miracle on the Hudson,” the 2009 Manhattan crane collapse and the American Airlines crash in Queens, which occurred just two months after September 11.

The book is officially licensed by the City of New York and the FDNY, and is published by M.T. Publishing Company. The book is available for pre-order through the publisher at www.mtpublishing.com, through the FDNY Foundation at www.fdnybook.com or through various bookstores. Proceeds from the book benefit the FDNY Foundation.

For questions about the book’s content, contact Steve Ritea, FDNY Press Secretary at 718/999-2056 or riteas@fdny.nyc.gov.
