Galindo Jr. was not wearing a seatbelt

FORT HANCOCK, Texas — KVIA reports that the Fort Hancock Fire Department fire chief was killed Wednesday night in a crash involving fire apparatus.
Fire Chief Manuel Galindo, Jr., 71, was driving a fire truck on Highway 20 when according to the Texas Department of Public Safety the vehicle veered off the road.
Chief Galindo, Jr. attempted to steer the rig back onto the road causing it to overturn.
Galindo was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the
apparatus.
He was declared dead at the scene.
DPS says no other vehicles were involved.
