Squatters Escape Harrisburg House Fire

HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania (WGAL) – Multiple crews were called to a fire in the Allison Hill section of Harrisburg as a man climbed out a window and dropped from the second floor of the burning building.

The fire started around 8:45 a.m. on the 100 block of South 14th Street. WGAL’s Matt Barcaro talked to a neighbor who shot video of the man escaping.

Harrisburg Deputy Fire Chief Mike Souder said the home was abandoned, but there were at least two people inside Tuesday morning. Neighbors had been complaining of squatters for some time.

(PennLive) – One man jumped out of the window of a burning house in South Allison Hill Tuesday morning in Harrisburg, and a second escaped out the back, neighbors say.

The house at 109 S. 14th St. was vacant, and neighbor Ada Garcia said she and others have complained about squatters and drug activity in the houses.

(FOX43) – A house fire in Harrisburg Tuesday morning brought several neighbors together in more ways than one.

Firefighters arrived on the scene to put out the fire at South 14th and Vernon streets just before 9 am, only to be told by witnesses that those who were inside got out and took off.

South 14th Street is lined with rowhouses, but the concern for the fire spreading from one house to the next isn’t the only thing worrying neighbors.
