NEW YORK — During the live televised reading of the names of those killed in the terror attacks on September 11, 2001 the son of one victim took a moment to respond to comments made earlier by Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN).
Nicholas Haros, Jr., wearing a shirt with the words “SOME PEOPLE DID SOMETHING?” said, “Madam, objectively speaking, we know who and what was done. There is no uncertainty about that. Why your confusion?” according to the New York Post.
Haros continued with “On that day, 19 Islamic terrorist members of al Qaeda killed over 3,000 people and caused billions of dollars of economic damage. Is that clear?”
“I was attacked, your relatives and friends were attacked, our constitutional freedoms were attacked and our nation’s founding Judeo-Christian principles were attacked. That’s what some people did. Got that now?”
His words were met with small applause as he began and more when he finished.
Haros’ mother, Frances Haros, was a working as a receptionist at a securities brokerage in the south tower and the day of the attacks.
This is not the first time Haros spoke out during the reading of the names. In 2018 he called on politicians to “Stop using the bones and ashes of our loved ones as props for your political theater.”
Representative Omar did not directly respond to Haros’ comments.
